A Giant Oak stood proud and upright with a hundred arms uplifted to the sky, scorning the slender Reeds below that bowed to every breath of wind. When the howling hurricane tore out of the north, the Oak fought stubbornly against the blast, and was violently uprooted, destroyed by its own refusal to bend. The Reeds yielded, survived, and lived to see the morning calm.
